About the Week: This week our schedules were finally back to normal! We have had a lot of fun learning about some new things. We have started to learn how to recognize and draw basic shapes. The kids all love to make the shapes out of clay and practice tracing them. We have also been learning about Family members. This week we focused on our moms and all of the things they do for us because they love us. In Language arts we have been learning about the letters H and I. We have also been learning about the parts of a book and who helps to make books. In slideshow below you can see some of the highlights from the past 2 weeks. About the Week This has been a week full of celebration and adventure. On Tuesday we spent our whole day in the zoo. The students and I went around the zoo with Mr. T. they were amazing, they just wanted to keep going and going and looking at all of the animals. Some of the favorites were the flamingos, the monkeys, the bears, and the tigers. After the field trip our spirit week celebrations began. On pajama day Mr. Hill came in and popped popcorn with us and then we watched Lilo and Stitch with the Kindergarten. On Twin day we all had fun finding out who was twins with who all day. We also began to learn some Halloween themed words, played Halloween bingo, and learned about shapes. On color day everyone looked amazing in their purple. We continued to learn about shapes and we created a spooky shape pumpkin patch. We also started to learn about families. My time slots look 40 minutes long but that is because I couldn't choose 30 minute slots. I will probably only end up meeting with each family for 20 minutes but I wanted to build in some buffer space. Please don't forget to sign up to meet with some of your student's teachers! About the Week: We had another eventful week in pre-K. In language arts we learned about the letter C. We also started playing with our name folders, so we can become name experts. In Math we have been focusing on counting and recognizing the numbers 1-10. Each week we have been getting better and better. In science we finished talking about fall and began to learn about spring. We had a lot of fun coloring and painting our rainy spring days. Everyone has been great at welcoming Tsnym into our class. We have loved having her here so far. About the Week This week was full of new adventures. On Wednesday we had our first Library Day of the year and we welcomed a new student to our class. Tsnym has 2 older brothers at her school, and she joined us this week. We are so happy to have a new friend in the class and we can't wait to get to know her. About the Week We had a very eventful week this week. In social studies we took the rest of the pictures we needed to create our school safety book. Then the students helped me design the pages of their book. In Science we talked about the Fall and created some beautiful fall tree paintings. In Language Arts we finished up the letter B and had our first day of centers. In centers we do different activities to help us with letter and sound identification, as well as fine motor skills. In Math we are working on number identification. We did a number hunt, filled baskets with different numbers of apples, and did a number hopping activity. About the Week This was a really great week. In Language arts we began on our second letter, B. WE learned how to write it, things that start with it, and we had a lot of fun playing with the sound it makes. In math we continued learning the numbers 1-10 by playing counting games and making bracelets. In Social studies we went over the importance of rules and began to make a book about the things we should do in school. In science we continued to learn about summer. We really love the summer songs and often want to hear them over and over again. We also made a sun to hang in the room. Each week we will make a new craft for a different season. Overall we had a great week. Everyone is getting to know each other well and they are all playing well together. About the Week: This week we began to learn about the letter a and the numbers 1 through 10. We sang songs, played games and started to write some of our numbers and letters. We will be making a book of all the alphabet letters to bring home at the end of the year. This week we completed the A section of the book. In Science and Social Studies we are learning about the 5 senses and Rules. This week we learned the names of the 5 senses and started talking about summer. We made a picture to show what we like to do in the summer. In Social Studies we read books about why we have rules and talked about rules we have at home and at school. We are all getting along well and have had a good week. I'm sure the next one will be even better! About the Week This week was all about getting to know each other and our school. We spent a lot of time exploring different parts of the classroom and playing together. Everyone seems to love playing with the cars and setting up the houses to make a town. The rice sensory table has also been a great hit. Everyone loves to go fishing with the magnet poles and sort out the letters from the fish. We have also had a chance to go to Art, Music and PE class at least one time this week. Everyone always comes back with smiles on their faces. The first week of school is a big change and can be hard on us all. It was a fun first week.
